After taking five years to develop, and only three months after launch, the online multiplayer game All Points Bulletin is closing down for good, and this could happen in the next 24 hours.

Daniel Emery of the BBC is reporting that the ending of the game comes after the closure of Dundee based developer Real Time Worlds. Grand Theft Auto and Lemmings creator – Dave Jones – founded RTW. He wrote on APB’s official forums “I truly wish we had the chance to continue to craft APB into the vision we had for it.”

He went on to say “I am so sorry it had to end so quickly but hopefully the good memories will stay with us all for a long time.” The developer was once hailed as one of the UK’s success stories. It was started back in 2002 by Jones after he left the company responsible for the first Grand Theft Auto. He went on to recruit many staff from Rage Software after it folded in 2003.

The release of APB had mixed reviews, and a few weeks later the company went into administration. Attempts to sell APB as a going concern seem to have failed, but the administrators are looking to sell the intellectual property rights to the game, (apb gold)and US based Epic Games might be interested.
