The original APB: All Points Bulletin was a subscription based MMO. The game's developer, Realtime Worlds, shut down, taking the game's servers with them. The IP of APB was purchased by GamersFirst in November with a relaunch of the game planned.
APB: Reloaded's beta has over 100,000 sign ups based on submissions to Gamersfirst. According to the game's blog, "The beta will be geographically rolled out, with three different regions planned; US-West, US-East and Europe turned up at slightly different times. Tentatively we are aiming to turn up the first closed beta during."
The closed beta could take longer as they "reserve the right to delay the launch of the beta" if there are bugs that still need to be worked out. The rebirth of game will be a free-to-play MMO. Premium, or pay-to-play, will be used to access more features in the game.
